    You have never voted in general elections. You know nothing about politics. You also think that politicians are just men in suits.

    Then you meet some local politicians and you talk about how to make sure that the community and the police work together at solving crime. You want to get involved and decide you quite like politicians after all. You say:
    "they're actually down-to-earth people, not just men in suits."
    This political makeover may even turn you into a voter. Now you understand that politics affects your life.

    It can also mean that a candidate has been groomed to present him or her self in a particular way politically.

    Like in:

    "The worker's party had a political makeover due to the fact that it has a representative posturing for an entire country now."

    It can be a big change, but it's often more of a change in the way things are presented than the contents.
