Question What is "secular enquiry" ?

Could you please explain "secular enquiry (or secular inquiry)".

It appears on 3rd paragraph of the following article.
It sounds like a religious term and I can't figure out what it means.

Re: What is "secular enquiry" ?

secular refers to being separate from religion, and so you might say it means
'worldly' or at least neutral in religious matters. Therefore, antonyms for secular are religious and devout.

Secular enquiry is when the phenomena of the world and the universe are investigated in purely scientific terms. Hence, Darwin's theory of evolution is secular, as opposed to man and all the animals being created by God when he created the world.
