    How to find the suitable adjective

    What do you call a person who forbids himself eating food for some reason? For example:
    Ahmed forbids himself eating food because policemen put him in prison.

    I want the verb and the adjective. Thanks in advance.

    If the persons stops as a protest, it is a hunger strike. If it is done for cultural, health, religious, etc, reasons, it is a fast or fasting

    hunger strike, This is what I wanted to know.
