    What does the cast of a thousand mean and in what context is it used.

    I was asked you can invite other people if you want a cast of a thousand for the meeting.

    Think of the old movies with what looks like thousands of "extras" - it's a cast of thousands.

    It's used as hypbole to just mean an awful lot of people.
