    ultra-Blairites=?

"He's a bit like a scared rabbit in the headlights and he should not be," the MP who has represetned Norwich North for 12 years said today.
"Give us five pledges which we can believe in. That would give the Government clear direction."
He called on Mr Brown to take on the "ultra-Blairites" and bury some of Tony Blair's modernising policies, such as education reforms.
Hello, what is " ultra-Blairites"? Thanks!

, but the "and his policies" could be rather confusing, as for many years TB and GB seemed to have more or less the same policies. In particular, they both wanted to (and conspired to) overthrow the "old guard" in the Labour Party - who made it unelectable - and they introduced the concept of "New Labour". Notoriously, they scrapped "clause IV" (the pledge, on every Labour Party member's card, to work towards "the common ownership of the means of production").

So an ultra-Blairite is someone who "really, really supported Mr. Blair and his policies" especially in the later years of his premiership, when his policies began to diverge from those of GB.
