    1.can we ENRICH our knowledge?
    2.what do we call the machine that digs the earth?
    3.is this sentence grammatically correct- he thinks he knows the cause of the incident but in fact he is way too far from it.

    As a Brit & mentor, but not a teacher, I would advise as follows:

    1.can we ENRICH our knowledge? Yes - if you are capable of doing so.
    2.what do we call the machine that digs the earth? You mean an excavator?
    3.is this sentence grammatically correct- he thinks he knows the cause of the incident but in fact he is way too far from it.
    I would defer to a teacher's oppinion, however, my own thoughts are that it's reasonably OK, but I would have phrased it:

    "He thinks that he knows the cause of the incident but I believe he's too remote from it to be aware of all possible circumstances."

    Note that although he may be physically remote, with modern communications systems, he may well be fully briefed on it.
