grind the face of the poor

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to interpret the folloing verse (Isaiah 3&15) from the Bible in plain English words.. I found a free translation in my Dictionary which does not correspond to the realities namely “grind the face of the poor = suck the poor’ blood”.

"What do you mean by crushing My people And grinding the face of the poor?"

Thank you in advance for your efforts.

    Regards.

    V.

Re: grind the face of the poor

    Hi

It means to oppress them, to work them to death, as in when oxen are yoked and overworked their faces are ground into the earth.

Check out this site: Isaiah 3:15 "What do you mean by crushing My people And grinding
