    Here's an example:

    I hit the man with a cane.

    Meaning #1: I used a cane to hit the man.
    Meaning #2: I used by hand to hit the man who was carrying a cane.

    The phrase with a cane is "ambiguous". Ambiguity is when a word or phrase, even a sentence, has more than one meaning.
