    felt had

This is talking something in past right, so should the inbedded verb be in the past as well?

    Which one is correct?

I felt I have wasted half of my life
I felt I had wasted half of my life

    Re: felt had

    Hi

The first one expresses the present, the second one expresses the past:

[1] I felt I have wasted half of my life. That's how I feel right now.

[2] I felt I had wasted half of my life, but I don't feel that way today.
