    state or condition?

    Hello everyone

I'd like to ask which word is more appropriate in the followng sentence -- state or condition.

Our organization conducted a study of the modern state/condition of civic education in XXX.

    Re: state or condition?

I would choose "condition" in that sentence.

If you wanted to say that it was a study conducted to show what the situation of present-day civic education was

    I'd suggest

Our organization conducted a study of the current state of civic education in XXX.

    hope this helps.

As a native speaker, I think that either is acceptable, but I would lean towards "state" rather than "condition" in that sentence.

    Possibly:
Our organization conducted a study of the modern state of civic education in XXX. We concluded that it is in poor condition.

Ronbee, can you explain to me why you omitted the indefinite article in the highlighted passage?

    Such a 'nasty' thing...these articles...

It's just a common way of saying that. Example:
    Q: How is he doing?
A: He is in good condition.
