    I want to know: when to use "been or gone"

    As a phrase it is colloquial.

    "He has been and gone and done it now"

    If you mean the two verbs, been and gone

    He has been to the cinema
    = He went to the cinema.

    He has gone to the cinema = He is at the cinema now.
