Dear teachers, what do these words mean in an oil and gas production context?

    Offshore oil production
    Onshore gas production
    Inshore operation

So, is there an (up)shore or (out)shore operation? What does mean 'shore' in that same context?

    Many thanks

    Re: offshore

    "shore" is synonymous with coast.

"Offshore" = The oil operations are taking place in the sea, some distance from the coast.

"Inshore" is close to the land

    "Onshore" would mean on land.

No - no upshore or outshore.
