    What's the difference between "think up" and "think out"?

    Can you think up a good question? = invent, develop

    Now think out a good answer. = use your reasoning to produce an answer.

    Interesting.

    In the US, you can "think through" a problem, and "think of" a solution, and "think up" (invent, just like you said), but "think out" sounds very odd here.
