Cool Reel his wife back in?

    Hello amigos!

Joe´s been devasted for being dumped by Jane, He wants to reel his wife back in. ( Jane is his wife)

    What´s this expression exactly mean?

It's making a comparison to fishing. I suspect that it means that he thinks that she still loves him, at least somewhat and that given that, there's still a "line" [fishing line] connecting the two of them and that he can reel her in like a fish.

Maybe, it's ideas like that that made her leave.
