    Questions

I have some exercise again which are a bit difeerent for me In the first one I have to choose among 4 words.
1.When people do sterch the turth with loved ones it is to A.guard
    B.defend
    C.protect
    D.keep
    their relationship.
2.Keeping the peace is also paramount to the 32 % who A.lied
    B.betrayed
    C.mistreated
    D.deceived
their partner about the price of a recent purchase.
    3.16 % of people A.confided
    B.confessed
    C.affirmed
    D.acknowledged

to taking something valuable from an employer.

    I think in the 1st one it's 'protect',in the 2nd-deceived and in the 3 one-'affirmed'

edit:Oh,and I also wanted to ask about this:I have to transfrom the scentences so that they have the same meaning:
1.The Dean of the School cannot do anything about it since the final decision is usually made by the class officers or the faculty advisor.
Transform the 2nd clause after 'since' choosing between
A.either the class offcers or the faculty advisor make...
B.either the class officers or the faculty advisor makes...
C.it is either the class officers or the faculty advisor making...
D.it is either of the class officers or the faculty advisor making...

2.Tell Mary to put the turkey in the oven now.If she doesn't,it won't be ready for dinner.
    Complete the 2 sentences,choosing between
A....now,or else it won't be ready...
    B...now,or on the contrary,it won't be ready...
C.now, for else in won't be ready...
    D.....now,for on the contrary,it won't be ready....

3.Maisie is happy that she has found such a nice place to live in.
Combine the 2 clauses, deleting, 'that she',and choose between
    A.of having found...
    B.for finding
    C.to have found
    D.with having found

I think in the 1st one it'sB,in the 2nd-A and in the last one-C

    Re: Questions

    Yes.

and in the second set, 2 and 3 are correct.
    Let's have a look at 1:

A: The Dean of the School cannot do anything about it since either the class officers or the faculty advisor USUALLY makes the final decision.
    or
B: The Dean of the School cannot do anything about it since it is either the class officers or the faculty advisor USUALLY making the final decision.

The first construction is less clumsy when it comes to including 'usually' into the sentence (since this is an important modifier to the sense of the sentence) but fraught with grammatical indecision for the learner of, should 'makes' be singular, or the plural 'make'. It does avoid the repetition of 'it' - 'anything about it since it is...'.

This could be helped by the construction., 'since, usually, either the class officers' and "since, usually, it is the class officers..."
But that's not allowed! So I'll plump for (=decide definitely in favor of one of two or more possibilities) A...but eager to hear others' reasoning on this one...
