    Is my sentence correct ?

"Should someone prove beyond doubt that an accident caused the fire, the police will naturally release the man they are at present holding on suspicion of arson."

I believe there's nothing wrong with the sentence. However, some friends of mine argue that I shouldn't omit "that" or "whom" before "they are at present...". What do you guys think ?

    Thanks in advance

You can no doubt omit it.

Thanks for your reply, but I need more comments from native speakers so as to persuade my friends that I'm correct .

Sorry, I didn't know you were looking for a witness.
