    Question Exaggeration

What is a exaggeration? I have to do a paper writing if the sentence is an example of, simile, metphor, personifacation, and exaggeration. I just do not get what exaggeration is.

I was forced to hear the player mouthing off.

The player exaggerates. He does too much.

    Re: Exaggeration

Oh, I'm sorry, but that's not an example of an exaggeration.

An exaggeration is when you say something is bigger than it is, to emphasize its size, or that it's smaller than it is, or worse, or better, or faster, etc.

Did you see that guy? He was 10 feet tall! (He was really 6 feet, 7 inches!)

Are we done yet? You've asked me a million questions already! (It was six questions.)

Oh, it's freezing out there! (It may be cold, but it's well above 0C / 32F)

Those are exaggerations. Hyperbole is a huge exaggeration. The "million questions" is an example of hyperbole.

    Re: Exaggeration

I thought he could understand. But as you told me, that isn't an example. Nevertheless, for French, this example sounds quite good. However, I used to learning like that. Now, I'm going to change.

Your examples are quite well. Thanks Barb.

You are exaggerating, RonBee, you told me that just once.
