Post identifying methods/approaches in modern ELT books

How can you identify teaching methods/approaches in the modern ELT books such as Headway, English File, etc.? Is there any key formula to tell one approach from the other relatively more easily. The methodology of the discipline is so broad that you get lost when you read.

    Thanks for your help.

PS. I'm a trainee teacher, trying to compare two books in terms of usefulness of exercises.

    Hi adaro

I could be mistaken, but if you read the first few pages of the introduction of the teacher's manual for each the books, you'll find that the authors state their methodology.
