Looking for help on a term

As a grade school student, I remember one of my teachers using a word that I cannot currently find any reference to. I don't remember how it was spelled, so perhaps a misspelling is keeping me from finding it in any of the online references. Perhaps it was a foreign language term. The term was pronounced: dae-num-wa. I think it meant the climax of a story or song. Can anyone satisfy my itch to resolve this mystery.
