    shut down, close down ( off)

    Hi everybody ,

    could i use both phrases -shut down, close down ( off) - to express the meaning of permanent halt in activities for a business , company , etc...

    You could say that a company has shut down operations in a country, meaning it no longer conducts business there, no longer has offices there.
    Shops and retail outlets close down - ( and may have a Going Out of Business Sale).
