    what does "give & take" as a word pair mean?
    "to give and take in any relationship"

    It suggests the need to compromise. Sometimes you will get what you want, and sometimes you need to give up what you want for the benefit of the other person in the relationship with you.

    It's not a "one-way street" (meaning one person gets everything he or she wants).
