    The Zero Article

Hey mates,it's the first thread of me here and I hope I will benefit from this website much.Today,we had an English lesson in which our teacher taught us "The Zero Articles" and " Defining Relative Clauses" but I have some problems with them.

Let me make myself more clear.

    1. In summer,.............. is calm. (nature)
    2. ............people often write poems or draw pictures. ( Spring )
3...........winter landscape is very quiet. ( The )

What confusing me above is the use of "the" in the third example. In the title,it says zero articles and we are supposed not to use "a,an,the" in the examples but why do writes use "the " in the last one?

    Re: The Zero Article

In that example, winter functions as an adjective, not a noun. The noun is landscape, and it's that that takes the article.

Ex: The landscape is very quite.
Ex: The winter landscape is very quiet.
