    How to use "etal"

can you please tell me the correct way to use "etal"?

Is it just etal? Or is it Etal? Or etal.? Or ET AL Or Et Al?

I don't know if they is a space or what is capitalized or if there is a period after it or a comma before it. Can you please help?

    And to use it:

changed several views on this (Morris 1985; Baskerville, et al. 1992).

It is usually found in citations where there are a number of authors or publications, but the reference is restricted by space considerations.
