    bare infinitive or an error?

Hi, i found this sentence - "there would be no dispute regarding what the asset cost - in a textbook of mine. Can someone please tell me why "cost" doesn't have a "s" attached to it?
would it be wrong if "costs" is used instead of "cost" ? Thanks in advance~
