need help to make it sound better

Hi everybody!

I'm writing a recipe for fried artichokes with cauliflower. Will you, please, help me to check the following sentence or make it sound better.

We thought to come up with something special and added a pinch of ground nutmeg to beaten eggs to give this dish some bite.

Thanks in advance

Hello Changeling,

What about:

"We wanted to make this dish a little different. So we added three well-beaten eggs and a pinch of nutmeg to give it some bite."

All the best,

The added "bite" is the nutmeg - I presume the beaten eggs is already part of the recipe as the binding agent.
So:
We thought, to come up with something special, of adding a pinch of ground nutmeg to the beaten eggs to give this dish some 'bite'.

Good point (eggswise).

Though on reflection, I don't think of nutmeg as particularly biting.

That's because it's ground nutmeg, MrP. A whole one would indeed be something to bite.
