    jilo

Is there another word for "jilo" (a pear-shaped vegetable) in English? Is it commonly found in English-speaking countries?

    Re: jilo

In addition, it's from the eggplant family, and Giro is an alternative spelling. There's one here called a Turkish Orange Eggplant, or Solanum Giro, Seeds of Change | Item Detail.

See here also, Scarlet Eggplant http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solanum_gilo.
