    encouter strangers

If you find any mistakes in the following sentences, can I have your commnets?

I prefer an outgoing person as my travel buddy. If we encouter strangers in a unfamilar places, my outgoing travel mate is more likely to make friends with them. Then I will feel more familar with the strage places.
