    Less is more (1)

The AIDS virus is carried in a person's body fluids.

Objects that are nearer to the Earth are attracted to it with a greater force than those that are further away.

In above two sentences, I think the black words redundant. Right?

'AIDS' is not in bodily fluids - the "S" stands for 'syndrome'. It the HIV virus which is present in bodily fluids.

The only change I would make there is I would change further to farther.

Why do you think that omitting "that are" is not fine? Please.

Objects that are nearer to the Earth - noun phrase (subject)
are attracted to it - verb phrase
with a greater force - prep. phrase
than those that are further away - noun phrase (object)
