Of those left behind, none more than he knew the awesome dangers implicit in the recall signal from G9. none more than= only?
All were somewhat fuddled with drink but none more than the Mayor and his party. none more than=not?
Do I understand the above two sentences in the right way?

None more than the Mayor etc means nobody was more fuddled with drink than the mayor was (ie the mayor was more fuddled with drink than anybody else was)
