    if-clause

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough tell me whether the following statements are right?

The room in which Mr. Pickwick had his supper was on the first floor.
If the room in which Mr. Pickwick had his supper had not been on the first floor, he wouldn’t have had to go downstairs.

Thank you in advance for your efforts.

    Regards.

    V.

First, you should look at the underlined, in bold portion, Vil. I hesitate to assume any corrections. You say what you want to say.

If the room in which Mr. Pickwick had his supper had not been on the first floor, he wouldn’t have had to go downstairs.

Thank you in advance for your efforts.

    Re: if-clause

    Hi Riverkid,

I must apologize for the regrettable mistake in my original post leading to a more regrettable misunderstanding. The proper sentence is :"The room in which Mr.Pickwick had his supper was on the first floor."

    Regards.
