    Grammar

    It was the January after we went to China.
    It was a January after we went to China.

    In this case, I suppose both a and the mean the same, right? Please.

    No, they don't.
    Let me explain in plain English.
    Suppose you went to China in December of 2001. Then 'the January' would be January, 2002.
    "A January' could be January, 2002, or 2003, or 2004, etc.
