    overseas

When you mention an "oversea country" does the respective country have to be over a sea or can it also be a simple land neighbor?

    Re: overseas

Every country that is separated from yours by the sea or ocean (such as North America, Australia, South America seen from Romania).

Apart from the UK and Ireland. At least I can't think of a situation where one of these countries are called 'overseas', although it might be illogical in view of the definition of 'overseas'. It would feel rather exaggerative if one said "She works overseas - in London". (Mind you, seen from the mainland of Europe as distinct from the UK and Ireland)

    Re: overseas

Come to think of it, it's a great question, isn't it? What about Guam, say? It's in a sea. If you are calling from Japan to Guam, which is USA soil, would the company in Guam be considered overseas?
