As November is several months after June, "next November" is correct. If you want to refer to the following year, you would specify the year - November 2009. You could say "this coming November".

    Re: this and next

    thanks.
that's the way I see it too.
my English teacher, who is an American, told me today that "next" would mean November 2009 and that I should say "this" if I meant November 2008.
I wonder if it's an American thing.
    thanks.

To me, a North American speaker, and it's June 2008,
    this November = November 2008
    next November = November 2009

How people would interpret it in Canada?
    Thanks.

Uhm, Canada is in North America, as is the USA, and Mexico.

    Wow! I know that, Soup!

My doubt is only because there are a few differences between the American and Canadian English and culture: Theater/theatre, center/centre, distance in miles/kilometres, temperature in Fahrenheit/Celsius...

    Thanks anyway!

    Canadians use both spellings.

next November = November 2009 This one can be a problem, because "next November" could mean November 2008 to some people. So I would say "November 2009" to avoid any chance of confusion.

But in November or December 2008, "next November" can only mean November 2009.

JC, we often add 'coming' to avoid any confusion.

This coming Friday / This coming November
