    Do I need the?

    Hello everyone

I'd like to ask if I need to use "the" before "development" in the following sentence:

He entrusted (the) development of the bank’s strategy to foreign consultants.

It's been the first time the word "development" is mentioned in the text.

Yes, it is much better with "the".

    I agree with 2006.

I'll add that 'first time' isn't the test here, KL. 'development' is further described by "of the bank's strategy" which makes it specific. It's the same as when we use a relative clause to define something.
