    It sounds like BrE to me [tho' I may be mistaken]. I'll venture that it means,

    'bring me down'; 'dispute my ideas'

    [tho' again, I could be wrong]

    Yes it is BrE, usually the collocation is "slag me off" which means to insult and criticise, so "slag me down" looks like a combination of "slag me off" and "bring me down."

    Does 'slag one off' also carry a connotation like 'brush one off', meaning "not take one seriously"?

    slag off:
    To verbally attack, using disparaging terms; argue, call names.

    It doesn't mention any other connotation.
