    a number on a check

I saw this number on a check.

$1309 xx /100 . what do the ekses mean?

$2324 00 /100. What to the zeros mean? NB The ekses and the zeroes were upper than the numbers and I didn't know how to type them that is why I wrote them beside the numbers. Thanks
