    Exclamation Re: grammar

Scientists having invented many technological instruments years ago have enabled us to lead our lives much more easily.

    a) inventing

    b) having invented
Here "Scientist having invented many technological instruments years ago" is a noun phrase which acts as the subject of the sentence. Inserting (a) 'inventing' will make the phrase grammatically incorrect.
