Means you are in an awkward position/circumstance or in a position of owing or losing money.

Are you sure it wasn't "I am a million in the hole"?

That does mean you owe someone a million dollars.

Your origianl phrasing doesn't mean anything to me.

I'm sure she meant "I am a million in the hole."
Otherwise, the original phrase doesn't really make sense at all.

Re: I am million in a hole

After reading thousands of fragments and attempts to write down what as misheard, I'm no longer sure about anything people post.

It's just as likely it will turn out to be that person said "I am so special! I'm one in a million, ***hole!"

(Although in this case, I do think it will turn out to be "in the hole.")

Re: I am million in a hole

As folks who are trying to help ESLs I'd say that it's incumbent upon us to think outside the box. We don't know if this was written or speech.

While, "I am a million in the hole" is what we see when this idiom is written, it most certainly isn't what an ESL might hear when this is used in speech.

In fast speech, something one would encounter in a movie, the first 'a' is often almost completely unvoiced and the 'the' often comes out as 'na'.

"I am a million inna hole."

I think it should probably be I am a million in the hole, as another person said. Again, this can mean you owe someone a million dollars or that you have spent/invested a million dollars on some kind of project.

    "I am a million inna hole." - EXACTLY. :)
This is when American accent comes into the picture.
(Just as "Coke in cans" could sound like "Coke and cans".)
