Can one say:
1-The police found five grenades, and guns.
2-The police found five grenades and some guns.
I agree that the second sentence is better, but would you consider 1 as out and out wrong?
PS. Please don't get me wrong. I am not in love with that sentence. I am just trying to figure out the grammar involved here!
I would say that the first one indicates a pause between saying "five grenades" and "and guns", perhaps to make it clear that "five" relates to the grenades only.
