    Re: that or those

What if both were correct? What would be the difference in meaning between the two sentences?

I'm really sorry to barge in.
If both were correct...I would say... the difference would be...

    1
    A: How about flowers?
B: Flowers? Yes, she'll like that.

Here, B might be probably saying..."She'll like the idea of getting flowers from A.

    2
    A: How about flowers?
B: Flowers? Yes, she'll like those.

Here, B sounds like..."She'll like those flowers(in front of us).

Please correct me if my interpretation is wrong...
    Thank you!

That's what I was thinking - that's what I would have said if I had answered my own question in a later post.

Do you understand what I'm trying to say in the post #3?
That's what Mr.David L. was going to say.

Well, in the example 1, A and B might be talking about what to give to her, let's say...probably in their office, where there are no flowers. So...flowers are in their mind, yes.
However, if they are walking...in front of a flower shop for example, flowers are actually in front of them! So...it really depends on the situation.

In the example 2, flowers are in front of them, in the real world.

I hope you can understand my explanation.
(If I'm wrong, please correct me. I'm sorry in advance!(Odd English)
