I have a question I don't know the answer of. The question is to choose a word from among three choices that has the closest meaning with clues in the sentence below.
Movements of the face and body give clues to our personality and emotional state.
A. hints B. names C. signs
I think both A and C could be okay, but you can't choose more than one. Which do you think better, A or B?

I am not a teacher, but I choose "hint".
You see, there is something strange in "(...) give signs to your personality".
If only it would have been two words you could change, then "(...) give signs of your personality" would have been my choice.
But since we can change only one word, "(...) give hints to your personality" sounds more natural to me.
Choice "a " is the correct alternative in that you can hint at or give a hint to. On the other hand something gives signs of as in the example: Paul is showing signs of being exausted.
