    Question What is Maré?

    Dear Teacher,
    I have read this sentence:
"There's 40,000 Springboks in the Old Transvaal
But fuck all in Mersa Matruh."
"But this was sung almost affectionately to the old Boer melody Sari MarŽ and the Afrikaner major attached to the wing was accepted as one of us. "
    Questions:
    1. MarŽ , here, means “Mare” or “Maree” or “Marťe”?
    2. W hat is Sari Mare , or Sari Maree or Sari Marťe?
I am waiting for your anwsers.
    Thanks!
    G.

    Hi,

gonghoujun - I am not a teacher. It seems that some characters in your question are not displayed correctly.
Please take a look at this Sarie Marais - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Maybe it is what you are looking for

    Best regards,

    Re: What is Maré?

    Random thought:

Sara Johanna Adriana Marť was born in Uitenhage, Cape Province on 10 May 1840. She married Louis Jacobus Nel in 1857 in Pietermaritzburg. Marť died at the age of 37 after giving birth to her 11th child...

Phew. That's more than one every two years.
