    why "so"?

    Qatar's oil minister, Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah, said the purpose of meeting was so consumers and producers can get together "to see how we can tackle this issue without blaming each other.''

    Please, is something missing is this sentence? Why was "so" used? Shouldn't it be "so that" or "that"?

    i heard mr.AL Attiyah speaking in different occasions before..he is just off the boat when it comes to the 'fluently spoken English'..
    you don't have to take what he says as an example of perfect English..

    In the above sentence, I substituted for the reason that for so. The example sentence demonstrates a perfectly ordinary usage of the word so.
