    The preposition BY and Passive Voice

    Can the preposition "by" be used to express the manner in which things are done?I made a sentence beginning with "By being priced on an interest cost basis,the procurement is carried out through ....."

    'by' - often with verbal noun: indicating the means of achieving something : "Malaria can be controlled by attacking the parasite."

    "By borrowing from small investors, they plan to provide increased working capital that will see the project through to completion."

    "By being priced on an interest-cost basis, the procurement is carried out through ....."
    (Grammatically, this is correct. Whether it makes sense financially is up to you. )
