Could you please tell me what he meant "none the wiser"?

    Thank you very much.

    Re: none the wiser

I can read that guy's mind. Let me tell you.

He meant: I am no wiser/no better informed for being given this piece of information than I was before, because it does not have any meaning for me.

I am no wiser for having been told = I am none the wiser for having been told.

If someone says they live in London, and adds, near Marble Arch, then I can locate whereabouts they mean in London because I know London fairly well.
But say someone lives in Tailoon, and they tell me it's in China. Well, I know where China is, but it's a pretty big place. I have no idea where Tailoon might be on a map of China. If they add, in Kampow Province, I'm still none the wiser/I still have no idea whereabouts he lives in China because I've never heard of this Province either. (If he said, Tailoon is near Shanghai, then now I do have a rough idea, because I know where Shanghai is.)
