    Glossary of Business Terms
telecommute: to work without leaving your home by using telephone lines to carry data between your home and your employer's place of business.

Is the word "telecommute" commonly used in day-to-day speech?

    Re: telecommute

It's not uncommon to hear someone say that they telecommute, no. Sometimes people will say that they "work from home," and then will clarify that they telecommute, indicating that they work for a company from home (as opposed to doing some sort of freelance work from home).
