    which

    Hi,
"The geology professor showed us a sample of volcanic rock dated back seven hundred years."
Do I need to add "which" before "dated"?
"The geology professor showed us a sample of volcanic rock which dated back seven hundred years"
    Thanks.

    Re: which

The geology professor showed us a sample of volcanic rock which dates(not dated) back seven hundred years. (meaning, the volcanic rock belongs to an earlier time)

    not a teacher

    Re: which

    Thank you.
Can I use "dating" instead of "which dates"?
