    Present Perfect Vs Past Simple

    Hi,
Is the following sentence correct to say?

What has helped to learn English in the past?

Souldn't it be something like "What has helped to learn English so far?" or "What helped to learn English in the past?"

It's fine, Mr N. 'in the past' holds a meaning of "from now, back in time".

The clarification is fine but instantly it creates some amount of confusion. Will the meaning be not very clear if the sentence is changed to:

What has helped the learning of English in the past?

I agree, MRM, that it is not the most felicitous of examples but it could be an example of casual, ellipted speech.

Teacher: Okay everyone, let's brainstorm. What has helped [us] to learn English in the past?
