Dr. Walton? A computer self-repairing software or what?

"Some teachers take on School Self-Evaluation like a Dr. Walton."
May I ask whether Dr. Walton was once a software preset in computer for automatically repairing any defects?

Does the sentence mean that teachers have taken on School Self-Evaluation for a long time by themselves before the School Self-Evaluation exercise officially takes place?

    Thank you.

Dr Watson is part of the Windows operating system; it scans the system for errors. I use XP and I still have it.
