    remaking of six sentences 6

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough verify the remaking of the following six sentences, using different collocations with the verb “take” instead of the italicized words and phrases?

1.1. Didn’t the boy pay any attention to your warnings?
1.2. Didn’t the boy take any notice of your warnings?

2.1. I am sure he was deceived by that scoundrel.
2.2. I’m sure he was taken in by that scoundrel.

3.1. He fell into the habit of repeating his wife’s words.
3.2. He took to repeating his wife’s words.

4.1. Who presided at the meeting yesterday?
4.2. Who took the chair at the meeting yesterday?

5.1. Be careful not to to drop these plates.
5.2. Take care not to drop these plates.

6.1. A sponge can absorb a lot of water.
6.2. A sponge can take up a lot of water.

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards.

    V.

    Hi curmudgeon,

Thank you for your precise editorial work. The letters “s”and ”d” are one beside the other on the computer keyboard which explains the foolish mistake in my post above.

    Regards.
